    Dr Mariya Goray is a Senior Lecturer in Forensic Science at Flinders University in Adelaide, South Australia. After completing her PhD in forensic genetics, she pursued a casework forensic career for over 10 years as a senior forensic biologist at Victoria Police Forensic Services Department. During her tenure at Victoria Police, she managed major crime cases ranging from sex offences to homicides from crime scene attendance to giving evidence in court. This experience, often informed by real life casework, has shaped her research activities, both during her casework career and at Flinders University, as evident from the scope of the peer reviewed scientific publications. Her research group activities cover a wide range of areas including trace and touch DNA analysis, all things DNA-TPPR related, the use of novel, to forensic science, methods such as collection of eDNA to use of flow cytometry for cell type identification.
